This Central District Craftsman was in very poor shape. Every surface in the duplex was completely rebuilt including the foundation. We actually excavated under the house to create a full basement.
The new windows, siding, front deck and landscaping vastly improved the "curb appeal" of the rental.
Not only was every surface replaced but we actually installed a large steel beam through the center of the house to allow for removal of many of the load bearing interior walls.
The original picture shows one of many interior walls that were removed
After removing the original interior walls we were able to create new spaces including this living room off the entry and the adjacent den.
The upstairs unit received an even more amazing transformation as the complete roof system was vaulted by removing the interior ceiling.
The loft space that was created opens to a very dramatic two story space in the living room of the upper unit.
