The original living room had a coat closet directly in the entry. There was also a distinct separation from the dining room to the kitchen. Opening it up created a much more cohesive space.
Heavy vegetation had taken over the property. The huge tree over the driveway was removed. This opened up a fantastic view of Puget Sound from both the living room and the new and expanded deck.
The entrance was in disarray. While maintaining the original character we applied new decking, installed a new railing system, cleaned up the vegetation and reworked the front door.
The birdseye maple feature wall helped enhance the mid-century lighting while the metal railing system created a lighter and more open space.
Turning towards the fireplace you can sense the dramatic new connection to Puget Sound.
The new sliding doors, window system and open floor plan made for an improved connection to the deck.
The exterior treatment was inspired by the renowned Scandinavian Modern architect Aalto Alvar.
Keeping with the Scandinavian Modern design we chose a light maple floor. The cabinets are contrasting stained maple with quartz counters and white accent upper cabinets.
A pass through service window system was added connecting to the deck.
The limestone radiant heated floors feature a curb-less walk in shower. The vanity cabinet is sapele with a quartz counter.
